Bob Thompson, Founder, CEO

Bob Thompson founded The CFO Connection in 1999 based on a simple market insight: that growing companies need senior-level expertise in finance and strategic planning but may not have the resources to hire a full-time CFO. Providing these services on a part-time basis, Bob started to build a long list of clients, which continues to grow today.

Bob is uniquely qualified to deliver such services. Prior to starting The CFO Connection, he served as the CFO of the Americas for a thriving Swedish company, where he managed the finance and accounting functions. At various times, he was also responsible for Latin American operations, human resources, information technology, and manufacturing. During his tenure, he led a highly successful strategic process by which the company expanded its product offerings, spread throughout the Americas, and grew from $30 million to $120 million.

A native of New England, Bob graduated from Boston College, earning a BSBA with a major in Accounting. Later, he received his MBA from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He also received special recognition from the Massachusetts Society of CPAs for being among the top 3% who passed the CPA examination in the first sitting. Before starting his business career, he served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy.
