The CFO Connection Expands its Presence in Canada, Welcomes Heather Waldman

THE CFO CONNECTION WELCOMES HEATHER WALDMAN

November 2, 2015 – The CFO Connection has added Heather Waldman to its growing team of part-time CFOs who serve companies with extensive financial and business management expertise. With proven financial and business experience, Waldman helps The CFO Connection expand its presence in the Greater Toronto area of Canada.

The CFO Connection is a national firm that provides part-time CFO services to small and mid-sized companies in North and South America. The addition of Waldman to the firm’s team comes as The CFO Connection ramps up operations to meet increased demand for innovative CFO services that deliver value at reasonable cost. The CFO Connection meets this market need through the part-time CFO model. This model pairs smaller organizations that cannot justify the expense of a full-time CFO with the expertise of seasoned CFOs who provide services on a permanent, part-time basis.

“Heather has the experience, know-how, and interpersonal skills to really make a difference,” said Bob Thompson, founder and CEO of The CFO Connection. “She knows how to lead teams, define and execute projects for better financial stability, and drive growth. I think customers of The CFO Connection will be more than pleased with the help she can offer.”

For years, Waldman has been on the job helping companies achieve their financial and business objectives. As CFO for the Canadian Tennis Association, she developed forecasting and planning models to increase financial insight, implemented software to drive donor pledges and negotiated with banks to ensure financing to fund capital improvements to key facilities.

Consulting to DayMen Photo Marketing, a wholesale distributor of innovative photo and electronic accessories, she helped bring the company through a sale and restructured its finance department to improve reporting. With Red Pages, a start-up print media company, she helped raise $2.5M to fund operations while developing new financial systems to ensure data integrity and financial transparency. And with PostLinx, a direct marketing communications service provider, she helped to cut overtime by 50%, reduce overhead by 20%, and improve cash flow by approximately $500,000.

“Yes, the role of the CFO requires a high degree of financial understanding,” says Waldman. “But equally important are the abilities to think strategically about the direction of the business and what particular projects can help the business realize its objectives. And, of course, it doesn’t hurt if you know how to motivate people and lead effective teams.”
