Steve Robinson, CPA, PT CFOStephen Robinson is the kind of CFO that combines financial stewardship and expertise with leadership across all aspects of the business – including marketing, operations, banking relations, administration, human resources, risk management, and strategic planning. Goal-driven and results-oriented, he is a seasoned executive with more than 30 years of experience helping businesses achieve their objectives.

No stranger to running a business, Stephen knows what it takes to make companies and non-profits flourish. In 1987, he founded Stephen C Robinson and Company Certified Public Accountants in Concord, New Hampshire – running the business until 2003. There he represented clients before the IRS, managed business acquisitions and sales, and helped a client base of more than 500 businesses get running with high-quality bank financing, accounting procedures, and controls.

While still running this business, Stephen also founded Checkmate Payroll Services in 1994 – which continues to operate today. As head of Checkmate, Stephen transitioned the organization from outdated legacy technology into a full-service, cloud-based Workforce Management Solutions company that provides services for payroll, time and attendance, human resource management, and more.

Stephen started his career in the United States Air Force and continued on to hold senior roles in accounting, auditing, and controlling at companies including International Packing Corporation; Killion, Plodzik, and Sanderson; and Hussey Plastics Company.

To stay on top on trends in business and financial management, Stephen continuously updates his skills with training on new technology and policy- and tax-related areas such as Social Security, Medicare, and Affordable Care Act reporting. He has also been published in the Nashua Telegraph, Concord Monitor, and in two books – Taxation for accountants and Taxation for lawyers.

Stephen is a certified Public Accountant in the state of New Hampshire. He also holds a BS in Business Administration from Plymouth State College and an MS in Taxation from Bentley College.  Areas of expertise include:
